Please join us on Wednesday, October 30th when we welcome Matthew Sharp to Velvet 48. Matthew is the Director of Sales for Shafer Vineyards and will present a tasting of their current release wines, including the very rare 2015 Hillside Select Cabernet Sauvignon.
Tasting fee is $65 and includes 2 oz pours of the below 5 wines and a selection of cheese, charcuterie and snacks provided by Velvet 48. Guests also receive a 25% discount on all bottles purchased the night of the event.
2017 Shafer Red Shoulder Ranch Chardonnay, Napa Valley - $76
100% Chardonnay – aged for 14 months in 75% new French oak barrels and 25% in stainless steel barrels with no malolactic fermentation – 2017 marks the 20th vintage of this beautiful Chardonnay from the Carneros vineyard named after the red-shouldered hawks “which play a vital role in Shafer’s sustainable farming practices.”
2017 Shafer TD-9, Napa Valley - $90
58% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Malbec – aged for 20 months in 100% new French oak barrels - Named for the TD-9 tractor John Shafer learned to drive while planting vines.
2016 Shafer One-Point-Five, Napa Valley - $140
100% Cabernet Sauvignon – aged 20 months in 100% new French oak barrels – “One Point Five takes its name from the term “generation and a half” coined by John & Doug Shafer to describe their father-son partnership.”
2016 Shafer Relentless, Napa Valley - $140
90% Syrah and 10% Petite Sirah – Aged for 30 months in 100% new French oak barrels - In a show of deep gratitude for Mr. Fernandez’ long tenure and dedication, the Shafers named their Syrah blend, “Relentless” in honor of Elias’ “relentless pursuit of quality.”
2015 Shafer Hillside Select Cabernet Sauvignon, Stags Leap District, Napa Valley - $425
