Sinegal Estate is a family-owned Saint Helena based historic 30-acre property, originally known as the Inglewood Estate. Alton Williams acquired it in 1879 and planted the first vines here in 1881. Velvet 48 has been a fan of their wines ever since we first tasted them a few years ago and we carry both their Cab & Sauv Blanc as well as their 2nd label, Details, also a stunning value.

Cain NV16 Vineyard Red Bordeaux Blend Cuvée
60% Merlot, 23% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Cabernet Franc
Perhaps the most elegant wine of the bunch, the Cain Cuvée is a wine that we hold close to home here at Velvet 48 and one that you surely want in your cellar too! The NV16 illustrates perfectly the way in which two vintages blended together can complement one another. 2015 was a moderately warm year with very low yields, while 2016 had higher yields and was cooler. 2016 gave some lovely, light, perfumed wines, while 2015 plumps it up with roundness and warmth. The signature of the Cain Vineyard comes through clearly, while the vineyards in Rutherford, Oakville, and Carneros each contribute their part.
